The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) was enacted by the United States Congress in 1990 to protect individuals with disabilities from discrimination in access to employment, public accommodations, governmental services and programs, telecommunications, and transportation. The law states that the ADA is "an Act to establish a clear and comprehensive prohibition of discrimination on the basis of disability."
All buildings, both old and new, must comply with the American with Disabilities Act.
